Mail-Order pharmacies can certify to receive new prescriptions as well as send and receive prescription renewal requests and authorizations.

Surescripts is working with State Medicaid Plans to offer physicians the ability to access patient prescription benefit and medication history information at the time of prescribing. This critical information can assist prescribers in making more informed clinical decisions and prescribing the most cost-effective medication.

Surescripts certifies software to provide Medication History to acute care settings. This allows prescribers authorized staff in acute settings to request patient medication history from participating payers and pharmacies. This represents access to more than 200 million patient records on a real-time basis — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

To support the Rhode Island Department of Health in its efforts to track the spread of the H1N1 flu virus, Surescripts' secure network facilitated the exchange of prescribing data from pharmacies to provide the agency's epidemiologists with weekly updates of prescribing patterns for antiviral medications, throughout the state.

The Surescripts Network for Clinical Interoperability provides an opportunity for regional and proprietary networks operated by HIEs, IDNs and EHR Vendors to connect with one another using a common, open and secure national network.

Surescripts certifies pharmacies and pharmacy software systems for Prescription Routing (new prescriptions and renewal authorizations). In addition, chain pharmacies can provide medication history to support our Medication History and Personal Health Record services.
