What are the Safe-Rx Awards?

The Safe-Rx Awards celebrate leadership and exceptional commitment to advancing health care safety, efficiency and quality through the use of e-prescribing. The Awards recognize the top 10 states in the nation with the highest rates of e-prescribing and offer a full ranking of state e-prescribing performance (including for the District of Columbia) based on use of all three critical services that constitute electronic prescribing: Prescription Benefit, Medical History and Prescription Routing.

Because the Awards are based on a ranking that measures states' actual use of e-prescribing, they have been referenced as a proxy for states' meaningful use of electronic health records.
