Independent Pharmacy Help Line
A dedicated, toll-free help line for independent pharmacists who need help with e-prescribing. Developed in conjunction with the National Community Pharmacists Association.
Surescripts, in conjunction with the National Community Pharmacists Association, is
providing the Independent Pharmacy Help Line (IPL) to connect
independent pharmacists directly to a live resource for help in
assessing, triaging and addressing questions or issues related to
their e-prescribing experience.
A complement to pharmacy computer system vendors, The Independent
Pharmacy Help Line is not intended to replace the support
pharmacists get from their pharmacy system vendor. Surescripts has
set up this line to help address critical, urgent or persistent
issues as a supplement to pharmacy system vendor support. The IPL
provides three ways to access direct assistance:

*Note: Protected Health Information (PHI) should be sent only if
absolutely necessary. PHI should be sent only in compliance
with federal and state law, including HIPAA. PHI should not be sent
by e-mail.
The IPL offers assistance to independent pharmacists in three
important ways:
- Helping to document and classify issues;
- Executing the research needed to help address and define a plan of action to help resolve the question or issue; and
- Providing personal follow-up to ensure that inquiring pharmacists receive answers and additional assistance as appropriate.
A current case number issued by your pharmacy software vendor is needed to obtain assistance on most issues.
